WOGO-Women Orthopaedist Global Outreach
The surgeons involved in WOGO work with local healthcare professionals to screen, examine and perform imaging tests to determine if the patient requires surgery. This helps them plan the surgery, collect appropriate supplies and determine the specific size of joint implants. This helps increase the accuracy of the surgical procedure.
The team of surgeons spend about a week in the Mission City, performing as many joint replacement surgeries as time and donations allow. The latter half of the stay focusses on monitoring outcomes, treating any complications and rehabilitation. Further rehabilitation is provided by the local physical therapists.
